Windows Client for MyBooks Professional 6.0


(1) Download
the the following file below onto your hard drive.

MBP 6.0 Windows Client
~ Approx. 8 Meg

(2) Install - Using your Windows Explorer go to the directory into which you downloaded the file above and click on MyBooksPro_Windows_Client_0204.exe


(3) Follow the instructions on-screen to complete the installation of the software.



Linux Client for MyBooks Professional 6.0


(1) Choose the correct version - Which Linux is right for you?
Either LSB compliant
or non-LSB compliant.

(2) Download - Once you determine the version, download the appropriate file below:

  (2a) - If you are using a LSB Compliant Linux system like:

SuSE 8.1, Sco OpenLinux, etc., download this file:

MBP Linux LSB Compliant Client ~ Approx. 22 Meg

NOTE: if you are using Mandrake 9.0, do not use this version.

(2b) - If you are using a non-LSB-compliant system, download file below. This includes:

RedHat 9.0, 8.0, 7.3, 7.2, 7.1, 7.0, 6.2
Mandrake 9.0 and Lower
Caldera 2.3 eSever, 2.4 Workstation, 3.1 and 3.1.1
SuSE 8.0 and Lower

MBP Linux Non-LSB MBP Client ~ Approx. 60 Meg


(2) Install - Follow these instructions:

Install - Next, while logged in as root and from a terminal session:

- set your umask:

----------umask 000

- go to the directory in which the downloaded files are located (e.g., cd /appgen)

- uncompress the file:

----------tar -xvzf MybooksPro62client_Linux.tar.gz

(3) Configure - Run the MyBooks Professional setup program:

----------./Setup.sh

When this program finishes, a MyBooks Professional icon should appear on your desktop. If you do not see it (as is frequently the case with the Gnome desktop) you need to refresh your desktop. On the Gnome desktop, simply right click anywhere on your desktop, and select Rescan Desktop.

(4) Start-up - Simply click on the MyBooks Professional icon on your desktop.
Then when you are prompted, enter the following:

— IP of the server
— Username - Setup by the Linux user admin tool
— Password

Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the software.



Mac OS X Client for MyBooks Professional 6.0


(1) Download
the following file to your Mac.

MBP 6.0 Mac Client
~ Approx. 15 Meg

(2) Choose configuration - Either StandAlone (only one Mac will run MyBooks Professional) or MultiUser (More than one Mac will run it).

(3) Install and Startup - Follow the instructions below for the configuration you have chosen.

  (3a) StandAlone Install - Click on the MyBooksProMac10.2.tar icon on your desktop. Stuffit will then uncompress the file. A new folder will be placed on your Desktop called MyBooks Professional. Open it. There will be two files that appear in this folder: MyBooksPro.pkg and MyBooksProClient.pkg.

Click on MyBooksProClient.pkg and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the software.

NOTE: You will need to enter the Administrator's password on the first screen. Click on the 'lock' icon to enter it.

StandAlone Startup - Simply click on the MyBooksPro icon in the Applications folder.

(3b) MultiUser Install - Click on the MyBooksProMac10.2.tar icon on your desktop. Stuffit will then uncompress the file. A new folder will be placed on your Desktop called MyBooks Professional. Open it. There will be two files that appear in this folder: MyBooksPro.pkg and MyBooksProClient.pkg.

Click on MyBooksProClient.pkg and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the software.

NOTE: You will need to enter the Administrator's password on the first screen. Click on the 'lock' icon to enter it.

MultiUser Startup - Restart your Mac Server to start the MyBooksPro daemon to allow workstations to connect to this server.



Windows Client for MyBooks Professional 6.2


(1) Download
the the following file below onto your hard drive.

MBP 6.2 Windows Client
~ Approx. 11 Meg

(2) Install - Using your Windows Explorer go to the directory into which you downloaded the file above and click on
MyBooksPro62client_Win.exe


(3) Follow the instructions on-screen to complete the installation of the software.



Linux Client for MyBooks Professional 6.2


(1) Download -
Log on as ‘root’ and download the following file into a directory where you want to install the product (e.g., /appgen):

MBP 6.2 Linux Client
~ Approx. 29 Meg

(2) Install - Follow these instructions:

Install - Next, while logged in as root and from a terminal session:

- set your umask:

----------umask 000

- go to the directory in which the downloaded files are located (e.g., cd /appgen)

- uncompress the file:

----------tar -xvzf MybooksPro62client_Linux.tar.gz

(3) Configure - Run the MyBooks Professional setup program:

----------./Setup.sh
